About us
high performance and environmentally sustainable
In 2007 a team of building industry experts banned together and identified the requirement of the Australian building market for a tough, yet light weight, cost effective, and environmentally sustainable internal and external building products.
Our research and development team have developed, and continue to develop a range of cost effective, labor saving systems that fulfill the building markets ever changing need for ease of use, high performance and environmentally sustainable products.
Multiboard has been at the forefront of the design and development of the Multiboard range of products, tailoring the range specifically for the Australian and New Zealand Market. Over the last couple of years, vigorous testing regimes have been undertaken to confirm the suitability of the range of products for the Australian & New Zealand market.
Environment
Less enegry to create and overall emissions
The main ingredient in the multiboard range of products is Magnesium Oxide (MgO) and 50 % of recycled timber.
The Multiboard range of products do not contain any organic solvents, formaldehyde, asbestos, oils or other toxic substances that can have a negative impact on the environment or waterways. As part of the production process off cuts are recycled as part of the production formula to minimise waste.
The MgO is cast in a liquid slurry-like form (a mixture of MgO powder, and other additives and water) and sets up by chemical reaction. The cast boards are then cured at ambient temperature. During this process of curing and hardening the mix actually sinks CO2 gases. Hence this carbonation process, not only uses less than 20% of the energy, but actually reduces the overall emissions, as compared to Portland cement products such as cement sheet and the like.
Occupational Health and Safety
Up to 50% lighter than it's competitors
Multiboard products are safe to handle and easy to use. The board contains no harmful crystalline silica, asbestos or formaldehyde in its composition. Handling and safety requirements, for all intensive purposes, are the same as common gypsum plaster installations, making it easily accepted by contractors.
The Multiboard range of products is around 30% lighter and up to 50% lighter when compared to ordinary cement sheeting of similar dimensional characteristics.
Standard construction industry dust extraction and Personal protection equipment should be used when cutting and shaping Multiboard products - There are no special tools or precautions needed.
Multiboard endorses safe lifting practices, boards should be handled by two people and carried on its edges to avoid damage to the product and most importantly one’s self.
Carbon Neutral
We're conscious of our environmental footprint
Multiboard understands the environmental effects of wasteful products and as a green conscious organization we strive to minimize our carbon footprint not only for our products but our offices as well.

Multiboard products are based on magnesium oxide an “energy-friendly” product.
CO2 is high on the list of “greenhouse” gases, which are said to contribute to the global warming phenomenon. MgO production is simple, energy efficient, and produces few “greenhouse” gases. Being a ‘green’/eco-friendly product would ensure that Multiboard products have a bright future.
A full life cycle analysis has been commission on the range of products and results will be published once available.
We are currently listed in ECOSPECIFIER and GECA.
Research & Development
Always innovating and developing our product range
Currently Multiboard have exciting new developments on the cards that are in the design process specifically for the Australian and New Zealand Market:
X Bound– A single layer, high impact, high acoustic boundary wall that will provide a minimum of 90/90/90 FRL value - Designed for residential and light commercial applications.
X Lap – A low cost, easily installed cladding system that provides an expressed look without the complexity of a light gauge steel grid system . Ready to paint after it has been installed by a single trade professional – Ideal for residential and light commercial application.
I Floor – A high acoustic and fire rated flooring system that can be direct fixed and off joist fixed for residential applications - ready for the application of floor coverings.
I Tread – A high acoustic and fire resistant suspended floor tile system. Designed to provide sub floor access to wiring and services and yet maintain a high point load rating – Ideally suited to new office fit outs.
